The College Signed MOU With MTRCL And MTRA

On July 7th, the School of Electrical Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) and the MTR Academy (Hong Kong) Limited (MTRA). Dr Lee Ka-yun, Deputy Director of MTRCL, Mr. Chan Hing-keung, Chief Manager of Engineering Services and Innovation, MTRCL, Mr. Leung Yu-hing, Principal Consultant, Mr. Chan Ho-wing, Deputy General Manager of the Centre for Innovation, MTRCL, Mr. Chan Sun-kwok, Principal Design Manager of the Electricity System, Ms. Chen Hui-zhen, President of MTRA, Mr. Ho Tin-kin, Dean of MTRA, Prof. Chen Wei-rong, Director of the Institute of Hydrogen Energy and Storage Technology of SWJTU, Mr. Luo Qianchao, Associate Professor of the School of Electrical Engineering, attended the ceremony.
Dr Lee Ka-yun, President Chen Hui-zhen and Dean Chen Wei-rong signed the co-operation agreement. Both sides will focus on the needs of Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area and international railway operations, and work together to develop strategic co-operation in railway technology innovation, application of technology solutions, personnel training and standard setting. Meanwhile, the experts exchanged in-depth views on the development of hydrogen rail transport, key technologies to be overcome, and the safety of hydrogen light rail vehicles in test operation in Hong Kong.
It is reported that this is the first comprehensive strategic co-operation agreement signed between the MTRCL and Mainland universities. SWJTU, together with the MTRCL and the MTRA, has launched an in-depth co-operation in an effort to build a world-class public transport organisation that contributes to the railway transport business between Hong Kong and the Mainland as well as to the overall development of the country in terms of reliability, safety and productivity.
