On July 10, 2024, the 3rd Sichuan Provincial College Student Intelligent Robot Creative Competition and the 7th China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition Sichuan Provincial Selection Competition were held at Southwest Jiaotong University. The competition is guided by the Organizing Committee of the Intelligent Robot Creative Competition of Chinese Universities, sponsored by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education and the Organizing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial College Student Intelligent Robot Creative Competition, supported by the Teaching Steering Committee of Electrical and Automation Majors in Sichuan Provincial Undergraduate Universities.
On the opening ceremony, Prof. He Zhengyou, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech. He stated that adhering to technological innovation and intelligent leadership is the only way for China's modernization, and it is an important mission of higher education to grasp the global development trend of artificial intelligence and cultivate high-end artificial intelligence talents with innovative ability and cooperative spirit. It is hoped that the students can compete in professional ability, exchange innovative technology, inherit the spirit of hard work, bravely shoulder the heavy responsibility of the times, and strive to write a new chapter of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement on the innovation stage of Sichuan University Students' Intelligent Robot Creative Competition.
Prof. Gu Daqiang, Secretary-General of the Expert Committee of the China University Intelligent Robot Creativity Competition, delivered a speech. He first expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the opening of the competition and expressed his heartfelt thanks to the universities in Sichuan Province for their cares and supports for the development of the competition.
Liu Zhaohui, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of the Competition and Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Southwest Jiaotong University, announced the list of expert committees in the Sichuan Division.
Then, Zhao Chenhong, a 2022 undergraduate student from the School of Electrical Engineering of Southwest Jiaotong University, shared her experience in preparing for the competition and the many difficulties she overcame in practice. At the same time, she also encouraged the peers that young students should give full play to their potential and use the professional knowledge they have learned to contribute to the development of the intelligent robot industry.
It is reported that a total of 22 universities, 310 teams, and above 900 people signed up for the competition, which is further expanded compared with last year. In the afternoon, the organizing committee of the competition organized a meeting of the expert committee to discuss the specific implementation of the competition and the scoring rules and other related matters. The participating teams also completed the registration and equipment commissioning before the competition.
